You’ve heard us say “10% is not enough, recruit, recruit, RECRUIT!” And if you have ever met a Philly dyke march organizer, you know we will try to recruit you to join forces with us. We believe in strength in numbers, in unity. We believe that every dyke has a place with us.
How can you help? For starters, RSVP to this year’s march. Help us reach more people on social media. Bring your dyke-identified friends and allies to fundraisers and the march itself! Buy a T-shirt and wear it proudly. Talk about the march on FB/Twitter or Instagram and why it matters to you.
If you’ve been to a march, you know a lot is happening. Let us break it down for you, then you can decide where you want to step up. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get you connected! Being involved is a GREAT way to build community.
- Marshals: be one of the brave and heroic dykes who blocks traffic, helps the march flow, directs the route
- Dykes on bikes: grab your wheels and cruise through the Gayborhood, leading hundreds of dykes behind you (yes, we are looking for motorcycles, scooters, bicycles, skates, etc.)
- Radical cheerleaders: scream and shout and chant your heart out, uniting dykes with your words and your passion
- Drummers: bring your own drums or grab some of ours and keep the beat as we storm the streets
CALLING ALL DYKES!! The Philly Dyke March is our protest, not a parade, in support of the dyke voice and experience.
Be a part of the Philly Dyke March experience by attending the 2013 Philly Dyke March on Saturday, June 8th at Kahn Park, 11th & Pine Sts. The March steps off at 3pm.
For questions or more information email email@example.com, or find us on Facebook.
Calling all DYKES:
We invite you to bring your graphic design/artistic talent to our 2013 competition for a new logo. The logo will appear on THIS website (phillydykemarch.com), on our FB and Twitter, on our T-shirts worn by hundreds of sexy dykes citywide, on our press releases and marketing materials, on our temporary tattoos, on basically everything!
Instructions: Submit high-resolution files to be judged by the PDM community on FB, poll style. The winning design will be on all the 2013 Dyke March swag.
Questions? Ready to give it a shot? Email your submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org by March 2nd. Files should be high-res 300 dpi and a similar size to the T-shirt. If accepted, the exact format may vary pending our printer specifications.
Best of luck, and for inspiration, please refer to our vision statement:
dyke: A person, traditionally female, who has an emotional and physical attraction to other women; sometimes including (but not limited to): queer, lesbian, bisexual, trans* and cisgendered women/womyn.
Since 1998, the Philly Dyke March has been an opportunity for self-identified dykes to gather, march and rally. Too often, the LGBT community focuses on male-dominated voices. The Philly Dyke March is our protest in support of the dyke voice and experience, and focuses on the wants, needs, and demands of our community. We march to show that we exist, that we matter, and that we have a voice. We demand and create an affirming, dyke-positive space to celebrate the creativity and determination of the Philadelphia dyke community.
Hopefully, you’ve spotted businesses around town showing their support for Dyke March. If not, we bet you will soon! The Philly Dyke March is not a parade. It’s a march, a protest, a movement. Since 1998, the Philly Dyke March has been an opportunity for self-identified dykes to gather, march and rally. The Philly Dyke March is our protest in support of the dyke voice and experience, and focuses on the wants, needs, and demands of our community. We march to show that we exist, that we matter, and that we have a voice. We demand and create an affirming, dyke-positive space to celebrate the creativity and determination of who we are, who we love, and the diversity within our community. We welcome Dykes of all races, sizes, ages, abilities, socio-economic statuses, gender presentations, and sexualities. We also welcome our allies to join us for the march and rally!
